Bollywood: In a recent development, a Kolkata court has issued an arrest warrant against well-known Bollywood actress Zarine Khan in connection with an alleged fraud case dating back to 2018. The case had been filed against her at that time, and after a thorough investigation, the officer in charge submitted a charge sheet against Ms. Khan in the Sealdah court of Kolkata. However, in a surprising turn of events, Zarine Khan neither applied for bail nor attended any court hearings. Consequently, due to her repeated failure to appear, the court has now issued an arrest warrant.
When questioned about the arrest warrant, Ms. Khan responded, “I don’t have any clarification to provide on this matter at the moment. I am confident that there is no truth to these allegations. I am currently consulting with my lawyer, and once I have more information, I will be able to provide a better understanding of the situation.
In the meantime, please feel free to contact my PR team.” It is worth noting that back in 2018, Zarine Khan had been scheduled to perform during a Durga Puja celebration in Kolkata but failed to show up, leaving organizers and fans waiting in disappointment.
What Led to the Controversy?
According to the police, the controversy stemmed from a written complaint filed by one of the event organizers, accusing both Zarine Khan and her manager of fraudulent activities. Subsequently, an FIR (First Information Report) was registered against both of them, and they were summoned for questioning. At that time, Zarine Khan did cooperate with the police investigation and claimed that she had been misled by the event organizers.
She alleged that she had been given false information, including the presence of senior ministers, including the Chief Minister of West Bengal, at the event.
However, her team later discovered that the event was of a much smaller scale than initially portrayed. She also raised concerns about discrepancies related to flight tickets and accommodation arrangements, which ultimately led to her decision to withdraw from the show.
Police sources have revealed that Zarine Khan had also filed a counter-case against the event organizers in a local court. Following a thorough investigation, a charge sheet was filed against both the actress and her manager. While her manager appeared in court and sought bail, Zarine Khan chose not to apply for bail or attend any court proceedings.
